c-mix program faculties and alumni get together online

on january 6, 2021, the first online exchange meeting between the faculties and alumni who had participated the c-mix program (referring to "china-chile immersion experience program") which was supported by bank of chile from the year 2006 was successfully celebrated.this event was organized by the school of economics and management, tsinghua university, and the school of business administration,pontifical catholic university of chile.

thanks to the luksic family's support, there are more than 500 faculties and students from chile and china participating in c-mix program since 2006. this program offers precious opportunities for the youth from both countries to get closer to each other and to know more about the different cultures. unfortunately, in 2020, covid-19 brought great challenge for the program because thesite visits and offline exchange have to be suspended considering the personal security. suggested by the program's sponsor, both schools decided to create an opportunity that the participants of this program can reunite on the cloud to share the memory and explore the future.

mr. peter morse delivered an opening remark.he expressed the gratitude to the organizers and said he felt very happy to meet so many old friends in this moment. he gave his best wishes to the participants' personal development and the future development of this program post-pandemic. professor josé tessada, the dean of the school of business administration,pontifical catholic university of chile, and professor jian xue, the associate dean of the school of economics and management, tsinghua university, had also given their warmest words to the alumni and the faculties of this program.

the alumni,maría pía gazzella, claudia serrer and juan pablo de la fuente from chile, as well as xiaochong sun, liangliang mou, and yifei zhang from china were invited to give speeches. they shared their different memory about participating the program. they told stories about their current life and work. they all felt enjoyable and productive the trips to chile and china.

on the "faculty sharing" session, prof. andrés ibáñez, prof. claudia labarca, prof. taotao chen and prof. lei wang recalled what they saw and shared what they felt after having participated the program. prof. claudia labarca made a survey in the chilean students about their motivation to do the academic trips and found that many students were motivated because they have curiosity on chinese culture, they deemed china as a role model due to its rapid economic development, and they wanted to explore commercial opportunities in china. prof. labarca said, intercultural exchange can affect students' perception on china,and teaching or experiencing business behavior can contribute to reduce bias and cultural gap. while when prof. andrés ibáñez recalled his four trips to china, he emphasized the site visits were very interesting and unforgettable and were also very important and useful for people to better experience and understand the culture far away from their own country.

in the end of the meeting, prof. taotao chen and prof. lei wang spoke highly of the positive effect by carrying out the program and expressed their willingness on the continuity of the program after the pandemic is well controlled globally.
