abstract:this paper illustrates the internal logic of the investment development path (idp) by examining the three-way dynamic interaction between the ownership (o) advantages of domestic firms, the advantages of multinational enterprises (mnes) and the location (l) advantages of countries. based on the framework, china’ s idp is systematically investigated, paying particular attention to the role of the chinese government which has explicitly followed a fdi-assisted and government-assisted development path.
